WHAT EVENT OR PROJECT OR PROGRAMME OR CAMPAIGN THAT NEEDS SUPPORT ▼
We always have initiatives that need funding and/or other forms of support.
We would like to ask you to Act in the Interest of Out-of-School Children’s Education in Africa.
This Appeal is about working with Africa-based Sister Organisations and the intended beneficiaries of it, who are Out-of-School Children in Africa (OSCA), so that the latter can go back to school safely and with security.
At the moment, in a number of places in Africa, there are children who have not been able to go back to school because of various causes or factors such as conflicts, displacement, natural disasters, economic hardship, and lack of resources.
Calculating the out-of-school rate, the UNESCO Institution for Statistics and Global Education Monitoring Report (1) indicate that
“In 2025 there are estimated 118 million out-of-school children in Africa, with this number having risen since 2015″.
According to the same report, factors contributing to this level of out-of-school children population in Africa include conflicts and crises, fragility, data gaps in conflict zones, funding cuts, gender inequality, rapid population, and poor educational quality.
Similarly, the website ‘humanitarian.org’ (2) explains that
“Africa has the highest out-of-school rates in the world, with over 100 million children and adolescents estimated to be out of school across all sub-regions except North Africa”.
Yet, it is possible to reduce the number of out-of-school children and poverty in Africa.
To enable potential supporters to get an overall idea of this Appeal and why they have been asked to respond to this Appeal, please find below its summaries.
• Aim of This Appeal
The main aim of this Appeal is to significantly reduce or possibly end out-of-school poverty by enabling OSCA to return to school when it is safe and secure for them to do so, while improving their motivation, self-confidence, attendance, and engagement with education.
• Objectives
In order to achieve the above stated aim, the following objectives have been identified:
σ To get back OSCA into a formal education
σ To boost their confidence and self-esteem
σ To improve their academic and personal development
σ To address the complex socio-economic, environmental and personal factors (such as conflicts, displacement, natural disasters, economic hardships, and lack of resources) that have kept OSCA away from attending school
σ Briefly, to mitigate out-of-school crisis and poverty in Africa.
These objectives are SMART (that Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-based).
• Appeal Beneficiaries

These outcomes or expected results will be substantiated by evidence during and after monitoring and evaluation.
